VOLUCRINE BELOVED

This project was sponsored by the South Carolina Arts Commission Emerging Artist Grant in 2026. It began with field research and observation across the state of South Carolina, and centered eight original paintings followed by an original zine and a benefit popup exhibition at Conestee Nature Preserve. Volucrine Beloved was a rigorous exercise in observation and subject matter engagement, and was able to participate in a unique dialogue with the same landscapes and communities that inspired it.
